Things I have recently fallen in love with

1. whole grain Pop-Tarts
5 grams of fiber. 2 grams of protein. PER Pop-Tart. So, if you eat the whole package, you've had 40% of your fiber for the day . . . in a POP TART . . . a real one . . . that tastes good.

2. every anti-histamine in existence

In an attempt to not be dependent on the drug companies, I stopped taking allergy medicine for 2 days, at the end of which time, I was miserable. Chills, aches, sore throat, upset stomach, the works. Who knew allergies could do so many bad things to your body? So, I'm back on them now, and I've promised myself that I'm NEVER going off of them again. We'll see what happens once I get pregnant . . .

3. children singing
The first Sovereign Grace Children's Choir performed today, and they were splendid! Little Ethan, who will sing for anyone at the drop of a hat, hid behind the person next to him as his face turned bright red. That was adorable enough, but the rest of them sang so beautifully that I couldn't help but be proud of them. The most fun, though, was before the performance, when we did warm ups and breathing exercises designed to be as goofy as possible, and I got them to sing so loud I was sure the congregation could hear us from down the hall. I loved the whole thing. Now, if only I had a degree in music . . .

4. Legend of the Seeker
This mini-series, on channel 17, is just the right mix of fantasy, romance, comedy, action, and slightly sub-par acting, perfect for a Sunday night of relaxation and denial about work the next day. Although, for some reason, they've started over from the beginning after airing about 5 or 6 episodes. I don't really mind, as I'm seeing new things that I missed before, but I really hope they go on this time.

After a loooong blog hiatus...

So, it's been a long time since I've posted here. And, while on one level I am ashamed (who creates a blog only to stop posting in the first month?), on another level I feel no guilt whatsoever. Adrian and I have spent the last few months living our lives instead of blogging about them. And that's okay.

But, with the advent of internet, a lovely fixed laptop (thanks hubby!), and a bit of spare time (unpacking is almost finished), the blog is back!

Now, what to post about? Well, I could talk about our wonderful new house, my impending (hopefully) career change, the strep that Adrian has, or the recent healthy/earth-friendly lifestyle kick I've been on lately.

But I think it's best to start off slowly when one has taken a long hiatus from anything. (Btw, love that word "hiatus". Just say it. Isn't it a wonderful word?) So, for my first post back, I give you ... pictures . . . of kittens.

Yes, kittens. Two of them. . . although these pictures are both of Mustang.

Here's a good one of Ferrari. He's a little more camera shy.
Yes, they're adorable. Just try and imagine them cuddled up next to you (or on you) purring. Yeah, I was never a cat person until I met these guys. Now I'm in love. :-)

The House!

In case you haven't heard, we are buying a house! It's a cute little townhome in the same neighborhood as 3 (soon to be 4) friends of ours. Or rather, it will be a cute little townhome. Right now, it looks a little like this...

More pictures to come!

First Post

Hello there everyone in virtual-land! We haven't had a blog since high school, and we thought it was about time. The little-over-a-year-old Peterson family is due for some big changes and big events in the next few years, and we wanted to keep everyone informed. And I (Meredith) wanted an outlet for this fabulous addiction to writing that college instilled in me in the past few years.

So, here we are! We have one more day left in our Outer Banks paradise before heading home to face the real world once again. It's been blissful here, waking up to the rhythmic sound of waves, and staying there, just listening, for as long as we want. But, as usual with enjoyable things, relaxation has a dark side. It's so easy to throw off all Christian responsibility along with our work schedules and normal sleeping patterns. We think we can stop fighting our sinful natures or neglect to meet with God. And we suffer for it. But we also learn from it... as we have this week. Rest is good and necessary. But it's not complete rest unless it's accompanied by spiritual refreshment, which is only found in God, not on a beach or next to a pool.

Although beaches and pools are nice...
